Mariners

The Mariners Program is sponsored by the South Coast Sailing Team. Membership is open twice a year; spring season and fall season. An Information Night for the Mariners is held each season (in September for the fall season and in February for the spring season) at the Orange County Sailing and Events Center, 34451 Ensenada Place, Dana Point, CA 92629.

AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR MARINERS

Youth registering for Mariners must be 14 and have completed 8th grade. 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

We remain dedicated to the principle that no one shall be denied the opportunity to participate in Mariners because of financial reasons.

All Youth have the opportunity to earn an hourly rate on maintenance projects that can be used to offset their yearly dues or cost of cruises.

REQUIRED REGISTRATION CHECKLIST

All forms below must be completed and printed prior to registration. Please bring them with you on the day of registration.

  • Mariner Contact Form
  • SCST Liability Form Your liability form is good for the entire season and extends to cover any activities occurring in the period before the next season starts. Please enter the dates for either the Fall Season (Aug 2025 – Feb 2026) or the Spring Season (Feb 2026 – Aug 2026).
  • Medical Forms Part A-B The form is designed to be completed electronically. If possible, enter the required data in the electronic version before you print it for signatures. This helps to keep the form legible and you can save the completed electronic copy for easier update in future years.
  • Medical Form Part C Part C must be completed by a medical professional prior to competition and is good for one year.  (Our fall competition is the weekend after Thanksgiving and our Spring competition is Memorial Day weekend.)
  • BSA Membership (New Mariners only) This is required because your BSA membership provides our essential insurance coverage. Participation in all activities is restricted until registration is confirmed.
  • Join GIVSUM GIVSUM is used to collect fees, to help manage and log volunteer opportunities and time for the entirely volunteer-led organization.
 
Step 1. Join GIVSUM. Go to: https://www.givsum.com Click “Sign UP”, fill out required info
 
Step 2. Once you have joined, click the search bar at the top of the page and type in the word Mariners. You should then see: Mariners 936 Sea Scouts and Mariner Juniors.  Click on it.
 
Step 3. Acquire ability to see Mariner and Mariner Junior opportunities on GIVSUM. Click on “Acquire Mariner or Junior Membership” Put your curser on membership package “v”.  Select the appropriate package and complete information.
 
Step 4. Click the x on the top right of the membership receipt. The page will then refresh automatically. You will then be able to see all the Mariner activities.
 
You will now be able to access Mariner events easily and quickly. In the future, after signing in, type in Mariners in the search bar above or click on a Mariner icon found any place on the page.

Spring 2026 Fees

  • New Mariner $595 ($435 registration fee and $160 BSA fee)
  • Returning Mariner $570
  • Returning Mariner with competition $855
